On Saturday I attended a Macaron making class at Bon Macaron Patisserie in Victoria. Ever since the release of the film Marie Antoinette I become obsessed with French desserts and macarons, especially how they were so beautifully displayed in the film being juxtaposed against the interior of Versailles. When I moved back to Victoria I was super excited to discover a little bit of France in my home town and have been frequenting Bon Macaron ever since my discovery. Bon Macaron makes themed macarons for every ocassion including heart shaped ones for Valentine’s Day, Egg shaped macarons for Easter and Football shaped macarons  for Father’s Day to name a few. I even got them to make me fake macarons that they use for display so I could use them as photo props on my blog. Learning about the whole process behind making a macaron  has given me great respect for the art and skill behind these beautiful creations and the creator. Each and every macaron has a unique flavour and Bon Macaron comes up with new flavours every week. At the end of the class I left with about 40 macarons to take home with me and put in my freezer to enjoy for weeks to come.

Looks like a beautiful day making macarons. I’ve made them at home before and while mine came out flat, they were still delicious! Lucky you to have so many as a parting gift from your cooking class! By the way, which flavor is your favorite? I love chocolate and almond.
