Skin Best Collection c/o Biotherm

Shop:

This week I tested out the Skin Best line from Biotherm which is designed for people in their late 20s and early 30s who are starting to experience signs of fatigue, uneven skin texture and fine lines. I fall into this demographic and my skin could use a pick me up so I decided to see if Biotherm lived up to its promises.  This line is known for a few key ingredients like ASTAXANTHIN and SPIRULINA which are both sourced from Algae. ASTAXANTHIN is extracted from red-Green H.Pluvalis Algae and is known to be one of the world’s most powerful and safest antioxidants. It helps to boost the UV light protection properties of the skin cells and leaves the skin feeling soft and radiant.  SPIRULINA is a blue-green micro Algae made from 60% vegetable protein and when applied to the skin this super algae extract acts as an energy booster for your skin.

I have broken up my review by each product including the basic description and my thoughts about the products along with the key ingredients.

LIQUID GLOW SKIN BEST:INSTANT COMPLEXION REVIVING OIL WITH ANTIOXIDANT ALGAE EXTRACT

“Biotherm’s 1st dry oil with algae extract and Astaxanthin. Skin feels instantly smoother and complexion looks more luminous and radiant.”

Key Ingredients: ASTAXANTHIN and SPIRULINA

My Thoughts: I used this oil after I washed my face morning and night and found it to help lock in the moisture before I applied my foundation. I also tried mixing it with my foundation to give my skin that radiant glow and it worked nicely as a highlighter and primer. You can also use it as a quick radiance recovery mask or as a nightly detox oil. I liked this oil because it had a refreshing cucumber scent to it and it left my skin feeling soft with no irritation. I think this oil is great if you are looking for something that can multitask depending on your needs.

SKIN BEST NIGHT INTENSE NIGHT RECOVERY BALM

“Imagine a night’s sleep in a jar! Act at night on the signs of fatigue accumulated during the day. Day after day, upon waking, skin looks visibly younger: well-rested, radiant, and fine lines appear smoothed. Skin looks stronger, and feels recharged with energy.”

Key Ingredients: ASTAXANTHIN and SPIRULINA

My Thoughts: This is one of the best night creams that I have tried in a while because my skin looked so refreshed in the morning and was insanely soft. It has this amazing cucumber melon scent to it and goes on super smooth not leaving your skin greasy. I think you could also double up and use it as a day cream. It doesn’t have any SPF but you could layer it under a foundation with SPF. The jar is also quite large so a little goes along way.

SKIN BEST SERUM-IN-CREAM: INSTANT CORRECTING YOUTH-PROTECTING CONCENTRATE

“The efficacy of a serum, with the caring comfort of a cream, now united in an innovative texture that transforms the look of your skin. Instantly, the skin appears smoothed and more radiant, giving you a flawless-looking skin tone. In 1 month, your skin looks more beautiful, as if perfected, and feels stronger. The youth of your skin is revealed.”

Key Ingredients: ASTAXANTHIN and SPIRULINA

My Thoughts: This serum is really interesting to me because it goes on like a moisturizer and you can almost wear it alone without a moisturizer over top; it also has this lovely mint and citrus scent which is always a bonus. I find that it acts like a primer because it blurs imperfections and helps to even out the skin tone over time. I would recommend using a small amount of this serum morning and night under your moisturizer or as a replacement to your primer. I really like this serum because it is different that other serums in that it feels like a cream and has multiple uses.

SKIN BEST WONDER MUD: PORE MINIMIZING: GLOW REVIVING PURIFYING MASK

“3-minute mask, with mineral clay, to cleanse deep, reduce the look of pores and get a healthy-looking glow. This non-drying mask removes impurities and excess sebum and unclogs pores. Use twice-weekly to cleanse against the build-up of city grime, makeup and impurities to help fight dullness and let skin feel as if it can breathe easier. This mask combats dullness and absorbs oil and impurities. Skin looks noticeably healthier, brighter and more even, feels soft and looks luminous. Tested on all skin types, even sensitive. Purified and healthier-looking skin within 2 weeks. Pores look reduced within 4 weeks.”

Key Ingredients: ASTAXANTHIN and SPIRULINA

My Thoughts: This mask is a little strange because it doesn’t dry hard like your typical clay mask and you only leave it on for 3 minutes. I was a little disappointed because I really like clay masks that you leave on for at least 15 min and have the clay harden on your skin. It may just be psychological but I don’t feel like it is doing anything especially if you only leave it on for 3 minutes. Once I applied this mask and left it on for 3 min I then used my Clarisonic to remove it in the shower and treated it as a face scrub. My skin was super soft afterwards but unfortunately I did have a few break outs. I am not sure if it is a purging effect from the mask or perhaps it is just a coincidence. I would recommend trying a small sample before you invest in a large size.

The night cream, that is what I have been looking for because I am still using jergens lotion on my face (believe me I am embarrassed to admit this!) But trying to find multiple selections to pick from and this will definetely make the list!

I’ve never tried Biotherm products but your review has encouraged me to try them. I especially like serums, they make your skin so soft! So I’d like to try that one first.

Biotherm is very good and I would like to try Spirulina, I heard of that, but didn’t really know what it was. I don’t use night creams, just a layer of a cream or serum before makeup to go out of the house, so I am interest in the serum – and that being like a cream, almost not needing another cream over that, even better, cause I like to wear just one layer of “anything” 🙂 I liked the review!
