Ever since I saw the Sophia Coppola film Marie Antoinette I have had a slight obsession with Versailles. I know the film isn’t historically accurate but I find it to be visually stunning. I love all the pastel colours and the scenes of them frolicing through the gardens at dusk while drinking copious amounts of champagne. It’s fun to escape from reality and live vicariously through the characters in the film as they eat cake and attend lavish parties. I have seen this movie several times and whenever I feel like taking an escape I eat a piece of decadent cake and pour myself a glass of bubbly.
