What is happening in the world today isn’t a political issue; it is a human rights issue. I have no intention of changing the content of my blog, but I feel like it is necessary to use my platform to speak out and address these issues happening in the United States and around the world. It makes me so sad to see what is going on in the world today. I hope there is Justice for every person who has been exposed to hate, racism, and injustice. I can’t pretend I know what it feels like to be treated less than equal or fear for my life because of my skin color. It is easy to forget about racism when you don’t experience it daily. Even though I have a vintage blog, this does not mean that I have vintage values. When I research new video ideas and look up vintage beauty advertisements, I see the lack of diversity for products available for black women. There is also less information available on famous black movie stars because they are less represented and talked about compared to icons like Marilyn Monroe. Going forward, I will be making more of a conscious effort to include black women and women of color on my blog and YouTube channel.
RIP George Floyd.
