Last week my mom and I went to the mineral baths at the Boathouse Spa located at the Oak Bay Beach Hotel. I have been once before in the summer and wanted to try the baths in the winter. It was well below freezing with the wind chill factor which made me a little nervous to jump into the pools in such extreme temperatures. We stayed in the warmer mineral baths the entire time except when I decided to go for it and jump into the cooler ones for a brief moment. I swam around for a few minutes and quickly ran back into the hot bath to heat up. I could tell that they are mineral baths because I could taste the minerals in my mouth from the steam and I felt super sedated afterward. The hardest part was getting out of the baths because of the cold air temperature, but my mom, and I managed to make a mad dash for the door. Following the mineral baths, we went inside the eucalyptus steam room to warm up and rejuvenate. I loved the steam room because it helped to rejuvenate my sinuses and clear my skin. I was so obsessed with the steam room that I decided to go back a second time after I had a glass of water.
I didn’t get a spa treatment this time, but they have a full spa menu including massages, facial, manicures, and pedicures. The best thing about going in the summer is that you can lounge out on the fully licensed patio and enjoy a cocktail and lunch. I think next time I will go back in the summer, this way I can make a day out of it and lounge on the pool deck with my new manicure.
