I finally made it back to Victoria yesterday afternoon after a long day travelling home from Phoenix. My flight left at 6:30 am so I was up at 4:00 am and didn’t fall asleep until after 1:00 am. I felt like I was hallucinating all day yesterday and kept nodding off at the airport and on the plane. I had so much fun visiting my family in Phoenix, and I am obsessed with my cousin’s chihuahua named Charlie. Charlie would sit on my lap all evening even while I was eating dinner. Now I am thinking about getting a Chihuahua for myself and as a new friend for Pinky. I was so excited to see Pinky when I got home but a little nervous because I was afraid he would forget about me. When I picked him up he was sniffing me like crazy it was so cute.
While staying in Phoenix, I made a side trip to Jerome which is an old ghost town a few hours outside of Phoenix. Located high on top of Cleopatra Hill (5,200 feet) between Prescott and Flagstaff is the historic copper mining town of Jerome, Arizona. Once known as the wickedest town in the west, Jerome was a copper mining camp, growing from a settlement of tents to a roaring mining community. Four disastrous fires destroyed large sections of the town during its early history, resulting in the incorporation of the City of Jerome in 1899. Jerome was one of the unique places I have ever visited, and a must see if you are ever in the Phoenix area.
The weather was so lovely and warm while I was there feeling like a summer heat wave in Victoria. I spent time lounging by my aunt’s pool with Charlie and explored all of the vintage shops. I have another whole blog post planned showing all of the vintage shopping I did in Phoenix. I have a bunch of vlogging footage that I want to edit before next week. I am so excited to sleep in my bed tonight and catch up on some sleep.
