Makeup c/o Elate Cosmetics

I discovered Elate Cosmetics over a year ago and have been a fan ever since. I felt so inspired when I met the founder Melodie Reynolds because she is so passionate about her brand and has such an amazing story and message behind it. Before I started using Elate foundation I was using department store foundation because I thought it was going to make my skin look flawless but  at the end of the day it clogged my pores and caused my skin to break out with strange rashes. I was at a breaking point with my skin and decided to bust out some of the samples I received from Melodie and I haven’t looked back. What I love about Elate is that all of the products are not only clean but reasonably priced which makes them accessible to everyone. Below is a list of Elate products that I am currently using  in my beauty routine.

Full Tint Foundation:

I love this foundation because it has buildable coverage and hides all of my imperfections especially when I have one of those dreaded hormonal breakouts. The Coconut and Argan oil keep my skin soft and the zinc oxide acts as a natural sunscreen.

Elate Essential Mascara:

I only just started using Elate mascara and now I am fully hooked because it makes my lashes look really long and it doesn’t smudge under my eyes through out the day. It is also clean, gluten free and water resistant which is great for sensitive eyes.

Create Pressed EyeColour:

This pink eye shadow is so pretty and adds a nice natural shimmer to my eyelids. It is made with mineral pigments and bamboo extract pressed with jojoba oil.

Elate Vibrant Lipstick:

I am obsessed with this lipstick because of the vivid long lasting colour and natural scent of vanilla essential oil. My lips also feel super hydrated from the mango and shea butter.

Celestial Universal Creme:

I use this as a highlighter on my nose and cheek bones and it works wonders for photo shoots. The lemon grass essential oil makes it glide on like a dream and gives my skin a dewy glow.

Glowing Veil Powder:

This is a great finishing powder on top of my foundation. It reduces oil and shine which is perfect for when I am taking photos and the bamboo extract reduces redness and irritation.

Creme Concealer:

I love this concealer so much that I used up the entire container until there was literally nothing left. It is perfect for under your eyes and hides all of my blemishes. It works wonders because it doesn’t dry out my skin or crease under my eyes to reveal fine lines.

Here is a little about Elate Cosmetics and the message behind the brand:

“At Elate Cosmetics we want to empower all women to make healthy choices and use the best possible products for their daily ritual. Products that never compromise your lifestyle or our planet. Elate Cosmetics won’t compromise your skin, your lifestyle, or the earth. Beautiful colours. Skin loving ingredients. Sustainable packaging. Made in Canada, all natural and vegan. We value spirit, kindness, wellness, community, and authenticity.”

Petit Vour, Vegan Beauty Box, Cruelty Free Beauty Box

Petit Vour March Beauty Box

I was so devastated when I found out that Birchbox decided to pull the plug out of  Canada so I decided to try a new monthly subscription box. I went with Petit Vour because they are a vegan, cruelty-free and a non toxic monthly subscription box. If you live in the USA is only $15 dollars a month including shipping and in Canada it is $23 dollars a month. Unfortunately with the current exchange rates my Petit Vour March box was over $30 which caused me to cancel.  If I lived in the USA I wouldn’t even think twice about subscribing to this beauty box because it is only $15 dollars a month and you get full sized samples.

This is what I got in my March Petit Vour beauty box:

Lauren B. Beauty: Dual Top/Base Coat

This was a full sized sample which essentially pays for the box since it retails at $22. I have been using this instead of nail polish to had strength and shine to my nails.

Suki: Transformative Purifying mask

So I am obsessed with this mask because of its ability to completely destroy a pimple over night. I have been using it all over my face every night and as a spot treatment. I love this product so much that I decided to buy a full sized one.

Little Barn Apothecary: Geranium + White Tea Beauty Mist

I have been using this mist as a refresher after I apply my moisturizer. It has a lovely scent and makes my skin feel revitalized.

Yarok: Feed Your Moisture Shampoo

I used this sample in the shower and found that it got the job done but I wasn’t completely excited by it. I was hoping that it would have a stronger scent of essential oils.

  20. Why We LOVE Elate Cosmetics at designHouse Salon! | designHouse Salon

    December 18, 2017 at 3:44 pm

[…] Elate strongly encourages women to take that extra bit of time to turn putting makeup on into a ritual, rather than just another step in a busy routine. “We believe everyday routine becomes ritual when the action is more meaningful than the outcome. We believe true beauty is in the ritual itself, (source).” This approach to makeup application means making the healthiest choices for your skin and also feeling good about what you’re putting on your face. As stated by Joli Naturellement “If I had to use one green beauty make-up brand for the rest of my life this one is it, (source).” Women are busier than ever trying to balance their lives and also feel good about themselves. By making a morning routine that is usually interrupted by children or the chimes of a cellphone into a ritual it makes it an expression of self love instead. Elate truly offers products that are cruelty and toxin free, vegan, organic, affordable and sustainable. As mentioned in the popular blog by Laura Jane Atelier she loves that “all of the products are not only clean but reasonably priced which makes them accessible to everyone, (source).” […]
