I hope everyone had a great weekend. Last week Andrew and I went to Vancouver for Halloween to stay at The DOUGLAS for two nights situated in downtown Vancouver. On Halloween, we went to Fright Nights at the PNE and then retreated to our guest room with a park view. Our room featured one king bed with a workstation and leather bench seat that overlooked the 30,000 square foot rooftop park. All of the rooms are decorated with warm woods, task lighting and original art pieces created by local artists. I loved all of the modern amenities like the purely natural Aesop bath amenities. The room was also stacked with locally sourced refreshments, and snacks like Douglas fir-infused gin and chocolate. Lounging in the room was so convenient because all of the TVs had an internet connection so you could watch Netflix or Hulu without having to take out your computer. My favorite part of the room was the massive bathroom with a huge walk-in shower with a window that overlooked the room and the city.
The DOUGLAS is apart of a diverse collection of more than a hundred Autograph Collection Hotels around the world. These hotels are all independent hotels that value a unique vision of art and design. The DOUGLAS is a unique space that feels like a breath of fresh air. When you enter the hotel, you are greeted by a lush living wall of plants. When you check-in on the sixth floor the front desk is a massive 25-foot replica of a Douglas fir tree encased in glass. The entire lobby is wood paneled and features an art gallery beside the front desk. Also on the sixth floor adjacent to the lobby is the D/6 Bar & Lounge that is exquisitely furnished as a day to night space where guests can relax and have a cocktail before stepping out onto the 30,000 square-foot park on the sixth floor.
On our first morning there Andrew and I went to Honey Salt located in the lobby of the Parq Vancouver. I loved the shabby chic vintage inspired interior, and the food was terrific. I had the avocado toast and Andrew had a poke bowl.
On the second day, we ventured up to the rooftop to check out The Spa by JW which is accessible via the JW Marriott Parq and the DOUGLAS. The space includes a 10, 000 square foot spa, as well as 4,240 square foot 24-hour fitness studio equipped with personal trainers. There is also an Aqua Lounge terrace with a whirlpool that looks over the whole city with views of the mountain and ocean.
We had such a great time enjoying all of the amenities in the hotel including the restaurants, casino as well as the convenient location close to shopping and walking distance to everything Vancouver has to offer. I can’t wait to stay at The DOUGLAS again the next time I am in Vancouver.
