I have always been fascinated with the Victorian aesthetic and lifestyle, and some people say that my style has a Victorian influence. After researching online about Victorian skincare, I learned that women made DIY face creams and lotions with fresh herbs. They did not wear a lot of heavy makeup because it was considered for prostitutes. It was in fashion to have a super fair complexion like a porcelain doll free from freckles; this is why a lot of women wore parasols to block their skin from the sun. A lot of women would also use toxic skincare products with lead and arsenic to whiten their skin. The Victorian era was also the birth of the cold cream, which we still use today.
