Necklace: Stella & Dot – Bag: Target

Yesterday I went to Target with my mom to try and buy a bunch of stuff before the store permanently shuts its doors in a couple of days. Everything is now 70-80% off so I bought a few cardigans, underwear and a huge amount of makeup and skincare. I am still kind of sad that Target didn’t survive in Canada, I guess I can pay it a visit when I go south of the border. In the past month I have had two separate occasions where a male has looked at my blog and described my style as Martha Stewart meets grandma. I honestly feel like there is a disconnect between what men and women find appealing when it comes to women’s fashion. I am confident in myself and my own personal style and believe that you can still succeed without exploiting your body or showing an unnecessary amount of skin. What are your thoughts on this issue?

I think it’s strange that someone would call your style Martha Stewartish. I love your style and would never say anything bad about it. I know some men just want to see a lot of skin but that’s not what clothing is about. I don’t think it matters what you wear or how much or little you wear, it’s always important to see the thought and beauty in every outfit. I think you always do a great job styling 🙂

I dont see martha stewart meets grandma style, its a bit on the classic side but thats not a bad thing. Classics are called classics for a reason, and I think youre pulling off this outfit well.

    great styling

haha, i don’t think your style is martha stewart meets grandma at all! and even though it was, that wouldn’t be bad at all, grandmas and their styles are awesome. and i’m with you on the showing skin thing:-) although i do sometimes wear (unnecessarily) revealing clothing, i’m just as comfortable and confident in more “conservative” outfits. and am definitely liking that more classic pieces are now more available more easily and you can choose the skirt length or whatever that best suits you:-) also, really liking your top and the colour combination of mint and orange/red! xx

Oh I love your hat! I’ve never been good at wearing accessories that I feel are bold fashion moves, like big hats. But I’m trying to do better at expanding my comfort zone in that sense. It looks so great on you. That scenery makes a stunning backdrop, too. What part of Canada are you in? I recently travelled to Vancouver with my husband because he lived there for a couple of years. Speaking of not exploiting yourself, I think it’s really great that you have the confidence to wear clothes that suit your standards. I’ve noticed in previous posts that you do a good job of balancing how much skin you show, for example pairing a shorter skirt with a conservative top and I think that helps keep things classy and tasteful. Your style is effortless and darling (and non-grandma), so you definitely aren’t missing anything by following your fashion conscience.
