Hello lovelies
In today’s Vintage Dynasty Series, I will be discussing Diana Ross and Tracee Ellis Ross’ favorite beauty products.
Diana Ross was born on March 26, 1944; she is an American singer, actress, and record producer. Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Ross rose to fame as the lead singer of the vocal group The Supremes, who during the 1960s became Motown’s most successful act, and are the best-charting female group in U.S. history, as well as one of the world’s best-selling girl groups of all time. The group released a record-setting twelve number-one hit singles on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, including “Where Did Our Love Go”, “Baby Love”, “Come See About Me”, and “Love Child”.
Perfume:
Thierry Mugler Angel for women

No flowers in this scent! Just a whole load of food: Chocolate, Vanilla, Caramel. Its uniqueness is what makes it so popular, but also the reason others can’t stand it.
Diamond Diana is an oriental floral fragrance with fresh citrusy and fruity opening, spicy floral heart, and warm woody, resinous base. Top notes: crisp greens, mandarin orange, bergamot, lemon, apricot. Heart: exotic spice blend, coriander, orange blossom, jasmine, sandalwood, black rose. Base: amber, musk, incense, vanilla, vetiver.
Interview with Diana Ross:
Are there any beauty products you never leave the house without?
“My “quick makeups” are jumbo eye pencils, really black blackpencils, and mascara, maybe blusher and a light lip gloss, something nice for the day. If I’m just running to the market, I don’t do the makeup at all. I just put on some big dark glasses! I have a real life: I’m a mother and grandmother and auntie first before I am a celebrity. But, special occasions require something special, playful, outrageous makeup.”
Tracee Ellis Ross was born on October 29, 1972, is an American actress, singer, and television host. She is known for her lead roles in the television series Girlfriends (2000–2008) and Black-ish (2014–present). Ross owns Pattern Beauty, a haircare line for curly hair.
Interview with Tracee Ellis Ross:
In an interview, Ross opens up about her beauty routine and the products she gravitates towards.
“To create my best hair, which I’m usually doing for work, it all happens in the shower,” she said. “I often co-wash, so no shampoo; I give my hair a good rinse and work my scalp, and then I use a really good, hefty conditioner.” Her “hefty conditioner” of choice happens to be one of her own, the Medium Conditioner that retails for $9 at Pattern.
It starts with a whole foods diet, lots of rest, and then “hydrating internally and externally,” as she revealed in interviews with Elle, Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar. “Some people spend time putting on makeup. I spend time hydrating my skin.”
Tracee also gets professional facials regularly “As a young girl, I was a picker. I used to love to do my own extractions, and I thought that I was an esthetician but I was not. So I started getting facials really young so that I wouldn’t pick and I would have a professional do it, because my mom was like, ‘You are going to scar up your skin.'”
She also loves beauty gadgets. “I try every beauty tool, toy, trick, vibrating ball, mask, roller thing. I spend a lot of time doing that because I don’t wear a lot of makeup on camera… and they wake my face up and make me feel like the happiest, juiciest version of myself. I don’t drink coffee, so those rollers are like my coffee!”
Tracee’s Morning Skincare Routine
Julisis Gold Wash Day: “In the morning, I wash with Julisis Gold Wash Day.”
Clarisonic: “I use the gentle brush on it.”
Vintner’s Daughter Active Botanical Serum:
“I’m obsessed with it. When I put this on I look like I’ve slept for two days straight! When you wake up… apply this serum and you’re fueled for the day! It just smells so good. Smell it, doesn’t it just make you want to be a better person?
Terri Lawton Rejuvenating Serum Custom Mix: “I don’t know what she puts in here. Don’t ask me, but it’s a whole bunch of stuff that’s going to make me look gorgeous. It is liquid, it’s like water, and I just slather and slather.”
Julisis Liquid Gold Drink: “[My facialist] makes me a serum that I usually put on first, or I will alternate and use Julisis Liquid Gold Drink. He’s a German guy, and he has a beautiful line, and I use the gold line. There’s a lot of oils and hydration that I use. I love moisturizing.”
Biologique Recherche Le Grand Serum: “It’s like a spray. It’s kind of goldy.”
CosMedix Phytoharmony Balancing Moisturizer: “CosMedix Phytoharmony is my favourite moisturizer because it dries matte.”
Biologique Recherche La Grande Crème: “I like to use a spatula to get it out, I don’t like to stick my fingers in there. Very sterile. So I like a lot because again, hydration, hydration, hydration. I like to heat cream up in my hands and then get in there.”
Retrouvé Intensive Replenishing Facial Moisturizer: “Along with the four layers I’ve already put on, I’m going to do a top layer of Retrouvé Intensive. I just do one little squeeze; like, a teeny little bit goes a long way. It’s really hydrating and a little bit greasy and shiny, which I really love. So I just kind of press it everywhere. Look at how those cheeks are already coming up. Come on, who needs makeup?”
Biologique Recherche Serum T.E.W.L.: “Two drops, like that’s all. Boom boom. Again, I like to heat it up and just gently pat it in.
Epicuren X-Treme Cream Propolis Sunscreen SPF 45+:
“For sunblock, Epicuren X-Treme Cream. It’s a propolis sunscreen, with 45+ broad spectrum. It’s my favourite sunscreen because it leaves a natural glow on the skin. You know how sometimes sunscreen makes your skin dull? Like it adds a sheer white mask? The bee pollen gives you that natural sheeny glow, which I love. It looks natural. Some sunscreens are not great if you’re a person of colour.”
Luzern La Defense Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Mineral Sunscreen: “It’s one of my go-to sunblocks.”
Bobbi Brown Skin Long-Wear Weightless Finish Foundation SPF 15:
“Bobbi Brown is my foundation. I use the long-wear foundation in Golden, and in the summer when I’m tan, I add a little bit of Warm Walnut into it. [But] in general I don’t like to wear foundation; I’m not a fan of the look. I like my skin fresh and natural enough so my freckles show through. It doesn’t bother me. I feel like I earned these stripes; I earned these gentle situations here and this under my eyes. This way, when I giggle or when I get embarrassed or whatever and the colours change in my skin, you can see it. Light can reflect, you can actually see my natural contour that exists, my freckles. And I could be crazy—maybe after seeing this video, I’ll be like, ‘Oh my God, I need to wear foundation!’—but who cares! I don’t know, I wear foundation on T.V… but in real life, I like what I actually look like. Even the things that I don’t like… I have so many things to do in my life, and worrying about this little thing or that little thing on my face is a waste of time. “
Lancer Dani Glowing Skin Perfector:
“This I stole from a makeup artist. It’s kind of gentle iridescent. You know how people love highlighter? This is my version, and I will look like I have just come from the beach.”
M.A.C. Powder Blush:
“[I wear] M.A.C. Powder Blush in Fleur Power. Or I just squeeze my cheeks; I’m not a big makeup wearer.”
Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate:
“I might add a little brown in there, just to take it down a little bit. I basically contour my blush. I don’t know which one goes first, I don’t really care. I don’t need contour—look at this little gap right here. Here’s the thing. At work sometimes, or if someone’s doing my makeup, they’ll put so much foundation, you can’t even see my contour! So then they gotta contour, and then there’s no sheen up here, so then they gotta highlight. I mean, you can do it for camera, but come on. See how it took the pink down a little bit, but it looks like I just went and I was out on a walk in the sun?”
Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Lip Moisturizer SPF 15:
“I love Neutrogena lip moisturizer and have been using it since high school. For real.”
Tracee’s Nighttime Skincare Routine
Shiseido Facial Cotton:
“To remove my makeup, I use Shiseido Facial Cotton, the little squares. They don’t have any edges on them so nothing hurts the skin around my eyes.”
Bioderma Sensibio H2O:
“I use two [Shiseido Facial Cotton squares] with Bioderma [Sensibio H2O] to take my mascara off and I usually hold it on my eyes until the makeup dissolves, and then I really rub to get it all the way off. Then I use two other cotton squares to take off all of the makeup.”
Retrouvé Luminous Cleansing Elixir: “It’s my skincare staple.”
CosMedix Benefit Clean Gentle Cleanser:
“I wash with a product called Benefit Clean Gentle Cleanser by Cosmedix.”
Clarisonic: “I use a Clarisonic, night and morning.”
Vintner’s Daughter Active Botanical Serum: “Then I apply Vintner’s Daughter Active Botanical Serum.”
Julisis Facial Serum Oil: “Or I’ll use Julisis Facial Oil and mix it with Rescue Balm & Mask, which is also from CosMedix and is a very thick balm, and I mix that in for night or if I’m feeling really dry, I’ll do that. I’m literally like a chemist, I have tons of things.”
La Mer Crème de la Mer Moisturizing Cream: “Either La Mer….”
CosMedix Rescue Intense Hydrating Balm & Mask: “Or CosMedix Rescue, a balm mask.”
Yon-Ka Phyto-Contour:
“I like the teeniest little bit, because there’s not a lot of skin under there.
Biologique Recherche Biokiss Repairing Lip Balm: “[I can’t live without]
Tracee’s Skincare Treatments
Facials:
“When I’m working, I usually get facials every other week to keep my skin really clean. I’ve been going to Terri Lawton since 2000… it’s been a really long time. I kind of follow what she’s doing—I mean, I’ve been seeing her for so long and my skin seems to be working out pretty well. Literally all of my glow and my skin, I attribute to her. She takes care of my skin. But she doesn’t do extraction. She really just sort of deals with your skin and the juiciness of your skin, and I love it.”
Biologique Recherche Masque V.I.P. O2: “Most of the masks that I use are from Biologique [Recherche]. I load the oxygen mask on my face, wash it off….”
Biologique Recherche Creme Masque Vernix: “Then put on the Vernix.
Biologique Recherche Masque Collagene Caviar: “Sometimes I do a collagen mask after that.”
ReFa Carat Face:
“Every swipe, I get younger. Forty-three, 42, 41… 18, 17, 15. Guys, I am like 12!”
Allegra Baby Magic Globes:
“The blue balls. The giant blue balls. Oh my God, they’re glass and they’re cold; I keep them in the refrigerator. I do this a lot of days at work when it’s really early and I just feel tired.”
Amuliss 24k Gold Skin Care Face Massager:
“This is a small vibrating tool. It was very inexpensive and it’s from Amazon; I don’t even know what it’s called. I do wonder if this little vibrating tool could do double duty. Instead of coffee, I like to… vibrate my face or roll my face or Gua Sha my face and wake it up because I’m often at work at 5 in the morning.”
LightStim for Wrinkles L.E.D. Light Therapy Device:
“I also love light therapy for the skin. I have a LightStim red light that I travel with.”
The Mountain Valley Spring Water:
“The other thing I do is drink water. I love water out of glass, not out of plastic. It tastes so much better. I’m known for carrying a green glass water bottle everywhere with me. I’m a Mountain Valley Water girl… it’s my favourite water. It feels like I’m drinking from a waterfall.”
