Essential Oil c/o Piping Rock
After learning about all of the different natural beauty methods from Myriam at Eco Fashion Week, I decided to experiment with a few of my DIY recipes when I got home. At Eco Fashion Week we used coconut oil to remove our makeup and wash our face. My skin felt so soft and amazing after and it worked so well at removing my eye makeup. I wanted to create a face and body scrub with essential oils and coconut oil as the base. I created two recipes one being a sugar body scrub with rose and bergamot and the other recipe is a relaxing face scrub with lavender and frankincense. I love the essential oils from Piping Rock because they use optimal and honest extraction methods while guaranteeing each oil is derived from 100% all natural plant sources such as flowers, leaves, and roots.
Rose and Bergamot Body Scrub:
1 cup coconut oil
1-2 cups organic sugar
5-10 drops Rose Geranium Essential Oil
5-10 drops Bergamot Essential Oil
My face is so soft after I use coconut oil to remove my makeup, so I decided to make a rose and bergamot body scrub that smells like a Parisian tea party. I mixed the coconut oil and sugar into a bowl and used my hands to mix the sugar and coconut oil until it was blended. After I had created my base, I added 5-10 drops of my rose and bergamot essential oils. I then used my hands to mix the scents and added a drop of pink food colouring for effect. Once it is all mixed, I scooped it into a lovely ice cream dish and put it in the fridge for a few hours to form its shape. I have been using it on my body in the shower, and my skin is so soft after I don’t even have to apply a body moisturizer.
Frankincense and Lavender Relaxation Face Scrub:
1 cup coconut oil
5-10 drops Lavender Essential Oil
5-10 drops Frankincense Essential Oil
I love using face masks and scrubs at the end of the day as a way to relax and unwind before bed. Lavender and Frankincense are my favorite scents for relaxation and help me fall asleep. I decided to make a face scrub with coconut oil and baking soda combined with my relaxation essential oils to create the perfect bedtime face scrub. All you have to do is combine the coconut oil and baking soda together in a bowl and mix it with your hands until the texture is smooth. You then apply 5-10 drops of each essential oils and mix it together with your hands. I added food coloring so it would look lovely in the photos but It is not necessary. I use this scrub 3-4 days a week for a silky soft and smooth complexion.
