Before I went to art school I had a very romantic idea about painting. I envisioned myself painting outside in a beautiful landscape like the Impressionists. I also had this vision that I would be living with other artists in a trendy loft in NYC. After going to art school for four years my whole perception of art changed, I ended up becoming jaded. Many professors in art school tend to pick a part your ideas. I guess it is their way of building character and preparing you for the real world. I have talked to many other art school graduates and they have all had similar experiences. It took me over a year to freely create art again. I can say that I have now recovered from art school.
