Pillows c/o Hilary Hope
A little over a year I met Hilary at the vintage fair in Victoria, and I was immediately drawn to her designs because of vintage fabrics, colors and floral prints. We began chatting and hit it off right away when we both realized that we went to the same fashion school and have the same love for thrift shopping and vintage fabrics. Hilary was kind enough to make these custom made pillows for my out of vintage fabrics. I love that they are reversible so I can flip back and forth between the solid pink fabric and the retro floral print. I will be sure to love and adore these pillows for years to come and enjoy how they blend in perfectly with my bedroom decor.
Hilary Hope is a Victoria-based designer who graduated from Kwantlen University College with a Bachelor’s Degree of Applied Design in Fashion Design and Technology. After 15 conflicted years working in the apparel industry, Hilary chose to pursue her desire to create purposeful goods that don’t harm the planet. She now creates environmentally friendly one of a kind floor pillows and tote bags that she handcrafts from repurposed materials because she believes that existing materials are the most sustainable option. Even the pillow fill is made from reclaimed factory off-cuts (scrap material), a process which diverts this new material from a landfill. Hilary sources her materials from anywhere and everywhere, but her favorite locales are thrift shops, estate sales, and vintage shops. Fully embracing the concept of sustainability into her life by buying less and investing in quality goods when she does buy, her ethos is to create timeless heirloom quality goods that speak to your sense of nostalgia, are treasured as a family heirloom, and passed on eternally.
