I was in need of some new makeup and wanted to see if I could get some quality makeup on a budget so I decided to do a drugstore beauty haul. The first thing at the top of my list was getting a new foundation and I decided to of with Maybelline’s Dream Liquid Mousse Foundation because of the amazing reviews and low toxicity level on Skin Deep Cosmetic Database. The first thing that worries me when I get a new foundation is whether or not my skin will have a bad reaction to the product and if it will cause me to breakout. I have been using this foundation for a week now and it is safe to say the coast is clear and my skin has had no negative reactions. If you lined this foundation up against several other high end brands I can honestly say that I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference, that is how good this foundation is. This foundation is very lightweight on your skin and gives it a poreless airbrushed finish. The coverage isn’t super heavy and it doesn’t cake on or sink itno your creases. It has medium coverage so you will need to use a concealer on top of it. I would say this foundation is a must have for someone who wants a high end foundation at a drugstore price.
A new concealer was also on my list so I decided to stick in the Maybelline family and try the Super Stay Better Skin Concealer + Corrector. I have been getting hormonal breakouts and wanted something that would cover my imperfections and help correct them over time. This concealer is infused with ACRYL C,an ingredient known for its antioxidant benefits. My final verdict is I love this concealer because it lasts all day and cover pimples so well and it also works under my eyes. It doesn’t sink into your fine lines or make your skin look dry which is what I look for in a concealer. I haven’t been using it long enough to see the long term benefits.
I have been dying to try the strobbing technique and was so happy to stumble upon this Maybelline Strobbing stick. I have been using it on my cheek bones, the bridge or my nose and underneath my brown line. This product is yet again another must have from Maybelline. I honestly can’t tell the difference between the Benefit highlighter and the Maybelline one. You might as well get the cheaper one and save your money.
I feel like a broken record right now because I am going off about how much I like Maybelline but I am just so impressed. This mascara is also now one of my new favourite beauty items. It has a nice dark black colour and makes my lashes look long and full. It doesn’t flake or rub off under your eye and it is super easy to remove at the end of the day with makeup remover.
I really like using soft pink and white colours on my eye lids because I find that it brightens up my eyes and makes me look awake. I have been previously buying the Sephora brand eyeshadow and wanted to try this Essence set to see if it stands up against the Sephora brand. This eyeshadow set was $6 which is insanely cheap compared to other makeup brands. I find that the shadow lasts all day without creasing and the colours goes on super soft.
