I think one of the main challenges of being self employed is having the discipline to set a schedule. I am getting to the point where I need to start making a set schedule for myself so I don’t end up working into the late hours of the night. I do enjoy meeting friends in the afternoon for a quick coffee or a walk but when I take the afternoon off I then have to come home and work all night. Before I started blogging I had no idea how time consuming it would be and I think most people think that I have a lot of spare time because I work from home. I have decided to try and set office hours for myself from Monday to Friday, this way I can try and get most of my work done during the week. It will be kind of fun and I can schedule in a 30 minute power nap in the afternoons.

    I struggle with exact same problem. Setting a schedule is the only thing that keeps me sane and away from those late night and working hours. On another note, you look beautiful in these bright summer colors

    It’s so great that you’re setting yourself a schedule! I’m only a hobbyist blogger, but I do find that setting a schedule is imperative in getting the right balance between work and play. Good luck, Laura, and I love the color of your skirt!

    I totally feel you regarding the looong working hours; folks think being self-employed means you get to only do fun stuff whenever you feel like it, while the reality of things is that you probably work more hours than you would have when working for a boss 😉

    It’s really true, one of these days a friend asked to meet me early in the afternoon and I said “oh, can it be 30 min later?” Just 30 min and this friend is very nice, but blunt, something I see as rudeness… she said “forget it, I am always at the end of the line”. My goodness, I just asked for 30 min, cause even 15 min make a difference on our schedules. It’s good to “talk” to someone who understands what blogging is! I loved your skirt, such a beautiful color, and your necklace is very beautiful too, and so is the model!

    Power naps are the best! I think blogging is definitely a lot of work, especially reading and responding to comments thoughtfully! It’s definitely not just running around in pretty dresses and drinking nice coffee haha!

    It’s great that you do take time off for yourself, I found that’s important to due to risk not burning out (:
