Hello lovelies,

I have always been fascinated with the royals and thought it would be fun to do a video talking about vintage royal beauty secrets from the most infamous royals in History.

Marie Antoinette

The Queen of France had a signature face mask that was so popular, and some French women still use it. This face mask consists of two teaspoons of cognac, 1/3 cup dry milk powder, one egg white, and the juice of one lemon. The cognac stimulates circulation and tightens pores, while the eggs repair skin tissue. The milk’s lactic acid dissolves sebum, which holds dead skin cells on the surface, while the citric acid from the lemons sweeps away dead skin cells from the surface.

Queen Elizabeth I

In the Elizabethan Era, many cosmetics were believed to block good energy. Pale skin was in style, thanks to Queen Elizabeth the first. She wore thick white makeup on her face to mask her scarring from smallpox. Queen Elizabeth often wore white makeup to maintain her image as a “Virgin Queen.” The most popular beauty product was ceruse, a mix of white lead and vinegar. High foreheads were coveted at this time as well, and nobility, including Queen Elizabeth, had their hairlines plucked to create an even more exaggerated forehead.

Queen Victoria

The British monarch Queen Victoria warded off bad smells by keeping her gloves perfumed with rose oil.

Queen Elizabeth II

The current reigning Queen Elizabeth is a huge fan of lipstick and loves the brands Clarins as well as Elizabeth Arden. She commissioned her own Clarins lipstick to match her coronation robes at the 1952 ceremony. The soft red-blue hue was named “The Balmoral Lipstick,” a name from her Scottish country home. And the love affair with color hasn’t stopped since then—the Queen has been seen applying lipstick in public on numerous occasions.

Grace Kelly, Princess of Monaco

The iconic actress turned royal princess was obsessed with hand cream and applied it to her hands religiously. She claimed that women showed their age on their hands first. She also used two shades of blush to contour her cheekbones.

Princess Diana

Princess Diana loved to use blue eyeliner to emphasize her beautiful blue eyes. Blue mascara and eyeliner was a popular makeup trend in the 1990s, and Princess Diana wore it in a glamorous and classic way. She did everything in moderation and tastefully. She would never leave the house without mascara.
