15 Ways to be Nostalgic Everyday

How to be nostalgic, meanung of nostalgia, 15 ways to be nostalgic,

15 ways to feel nostalgia

I have always been a nostalgic person hence my obsession with all things vintage. I often get a warm fuzzy feeling when I think of the past and different decades. I love to watch old movies or movies that take place in another period. Being nostalgic is the best way to time travel to the past and experience things that people did decades ago. Sometimes I think about the times before I had a cell phone or the internet. Believe it or not, I remember those days, and I am grateful to be one of the last generations born into ipads and Facebook. I had to call up my friends on the phone and memorize all of their phone numbers. I still remember most of their numbers because we didn’t have everything stored in our phones. When I didn’t know the answer to something, I had to ask my parents or look it up in a book because we didn’t have google. Experiencing these memories puts me at ease and comforts me. It makes me feel at home.

1.Listen To Old Music

I love to listen to old music from the past because it reminds me of when I was young. Sometimes I like to listen to hits from the 1990s and early 2000s to take me back. I also like to listen to music from decades before I was born to feel what it was like back then.

2.Listen to the radio:

I love to listen to the old-fashioned radio stations that I used to listen to when I was in high school. I love not knowing what song is coming up next and satisfying when the signal goes scratchy.

3.Look at Old Photographs

I love flipping through old family photographs from when I was a kid because it takes me back in time, and I can travel back to that day when the photo was taken. I can spend hours looking at old pictures. Sadly people don’t print out photos anymore or make photo albums. When I was in high school, we didn’t have digital cameras. I had to but wind up point and shoot cameras with only 25 photos to last the whole trip. I had to wait until I got home to develop the images.

4.Watch Old Movies

Rewatching some of my favourite movies from the past is one of my favourite things to do to feel nostalgic. When I was a kid, I loved the movie Back to the Future and Goonies and consistently trying to rewatch my favourite movies every few years.

5.Go to a movie store and rent a movie

I know most movie stores have closed down, but there are still a few standing in my city, and I recently started going once a week to rent some of my favourite movies on Bluray. It made me so happy going in there and picking up some of my favourite movies. I remember going to blockbuster when I was a kid and loved the staff picks section and walls of new releases.

6.Play An Old Fashioned Game

It is fun to play some of your favourite board games from when you were a kid, like Monopoly or scrabble.

7.Visit Your Old Neighbourhood

Go for a drive or walk and visit your old house or apartment. I always love driving past places where I once lived and took the time to look around the neighbourhood and see what has changed.

8.Go Through Your Junk Drawer

I have different boxes in my old room at my parent’s house with old photos and high school yearbooks. Sometimes it is fun to clean out old junk drawers or closets to stir up some of your old memories from when you were a kid.

9.Read An Old Entry In A Journal/Diary

If you had an old journal or diary when you were younger, it is sometimes fun to read it years later to get into the mindset of when you were younger.

10.write a letter

People never write letters anymore, so it can be fun and romantic to write a handwritten note to a loved one instead of email.

12.Call up a friend on a landline instead of texting

Instead of texting a friend, call them up on the phone and, even better, a landline or rotary phone if you still have one,

13.Collect vintage things

I love to collect vintage clothing and make-up for nostalgic reasons, but some people even collect vintage TVs, electronics and VHS.

14.Watch a sunset or go to some of the places where you hang out as a kid

Watching a sunset can give you a feeling of nostalgia because time stands still, and you are away from your phone, contemplating. It is even more nostalgic if you go to some of the places you used to watch sunsets as a kid.

15.Go to a vintage restaurant or diner

I love going to vintage diners and seek them out when I travel. I love places with original decor and menus that have been around for many decades.
