As I mentioned in last weeks blog post, Andrew and I drove down to Astoria and Portland a few weeks ago to look at all of the different film locations for one of my favorite movies The Goonies. After we explored Astoria, we drove down to Cannon Beach to see where they filmed The Goonies by the massive rocks. It has always been a dream of mine to go to Cannon Beach because if the movie The Goonies. Cannon beach is one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen; it is worth visiting if you have never been. Later that evening, after we explored the beach, we then drove over to Portland for two nights. We went to Portland to see the comedian Marc Maron, who is in that Netflix show Glow. I saw Marc Maron in 2012 and thought he was hilarious, so I thought it would be fun to see him in Portland.

While we were in Portland, we stayed at The Palms again because of its convenient location and vintage neon sign. I went to a few new places to eat and drink including Gravy for brunch and The Elvis Room and Sandy Hut for a drink before we saw, Marc Maron. I am a huge fan of biscuits, and wow the biscuits at Gravy were incredible. This place is perfect for breakfast and brunch if you like southern comfort food. For drinks, we started at The Elvis room, and I must say this place is incredible if you love kitschy vintage decor and cats. There were cat statues everywhere, and there was this beautiful cat painting at the back of the bar. All of the walls and seats were this gorgeous baby blue, and when you go downstairs, you have another style of a bar which is dark inside with no windows. I swear The Elvis Room is the mullet of bars because it is business in the front and party in the back. After we had a few drinks at The Elvis room, we ventured over to another vintage bar call The Sandy hut a vintage bar from 1923. The Sandy Hut is such a unique bar because it is triangular shaped on the corner of the street with no windows. The inside is incredible with vintage tiki design and delicious slushy drinks. I love visiting Portland because there are so many old places to visit that you don’t see where I live. All of the vintage bars and restaurants get torn down in Victoria.
